Dr. Hatice Hasturk, C.A.G.S., D.D.S., Ph.D

Dr. Hatice Hasturk received her D.D.S. from School of Dentistry at Hacettepe University in Ankara, Turkey, in 1988. She completed her Ph.D. and periodontology specialty training at the same institution in 1995. After working for four years as a private periodontist in Istanbul, she started working at the Clinical Research Center at the Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine as a research fellow in 1999. Dr. Hasturk received a Certificate in Advanced Graduate Study in periodontology from GSDM in 2004. She joined the Forsyth Institute in 2010 and is a Senior Member of Staff (Professor), Department of Applied Oral Sciences and the Director, Center for Clinical and Translational Research.
As a dentist and specialist (periodontist), Dr. Hasturk’s work mainly involves the oral cavity, but she is interested in much more than just improving dental care. She is working to understand the link between oral diseases and how they can affect the rest of the body. Specifically, Dr. Hasturk focuses on diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and other conditions that share a common inflammatory pathway with periodontal disease.
Dr. Hasturk is a board-certified periodontist and has authored or coauthored more than 50 scientific publications in peer-reviewed dental and medical journals.

Jason Schoener, D.D.S.
Pediatric Dentist

Prior to joining the ADA Forsyth, Dr. Schoener served 13 years in the U.S. Air Force as a board-certified pediatric dentist and currently works as the Chief of Dental Services with the Massachusetts Air National Guard as a reservist. He completed his pediatric dental residency at UT Health San Antonio and an Advanced Degree in General Dentistry (AEGD-1) at David Grant USAF Medical Center. Dr. Schoener received his D.D.S. from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry in 2011. Dr. Schoener serves as an editor for the Journal of Dentistry for Children (JDC) and a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD), International Association of Pediatric Dentistry (IAPD), and College of Diplomates in Pediatric Dentistry. In his free time, Dr. Schoener enjoys reading, traveling and running. He finished 14th in the 2008 Boston Marathon and competed as a runner at his alma mater at The College of William & Mary from 2002-2007. Dr. Schoener is a native of Michigan, where most of his family still resides.

Yumi Maeda, D.M.D., D.D.S., Ph.D.

Yumi Maeda, a general dentist with over 15 years of clinical experience, has specialized in oral surgery and sedation in Japan. After relocating to the USA, she pursued a postdoctoral fellowship in chronic pain research. Alongside her team, she has published her research in esteemed scientific journals. Maeda holds a Doctor of Medicine (DMD) degree from Boston University and joined FFA in 2018. She is licensed to practice dentistry with nitrous oxide sedation and is certified in Invisalign. Passionate about patient care and improving oral health through painless approaches, Maeda enjoys activities like ice skating, playing music, and spending time with her family and dog.

Tingxi Wu, D.D.S., Ph.D.

Dr. Tingxi Wu serves as Director of Orthodontics and Research Faculty Member at the ADA Forsyth Institute. She is the 2024 President-Elect of the IADR Orthodontic Research Group. Dr. Wu earned her D.D.S. degree from West China School of Stomatology, Sichuan University, and acquired her Ph.D. and orthodontic specialty training at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

Dr. Leah Briscoe is a Boston native who earned her degree in Dental Science from Trinity College Dublin in 2021 and her B.S. from the University of Vermont in 2015. She is delighted to be back in Boston with her friends and family working at Forsyth Faculty Associates! She is passionate about providing high-quality dentistry and is keenly interested in esthetic treatments including composite fillings, crowns, veneers, and dentures. Leah is passionate about providing high quality dentistry while making patients feel comfortable and relaxed. Leah is very accommodating when it comes to making patients feel comfortable, particularly for patients that are nervous, and it is of utmost importance that Leah’s patients leave feeling satisfied with their treatments. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time outdoors sailing, spending time at the lake, skiing, or traveling. She is an avid Boston sports fan and likes to play field hockey. Additionally, Leah enjoys working with entire families and long-term patients, seeing them grow and progress each year. She looks forward to meeting and getting to know both you and your smile!
